The Bayou Pigeon Boat Launch Improvement Project, completed in December 2025, less than a year after the project began, enhances public access to the Atchafalaya Basin by upgrading one of the region’s most heavily used recreational boat launches. Led by CPRA under the Atchafalaya Basin Program, the project improved facilities for residents and visitors alike.
The Bayou Pigeon Boat Launch features additional ramps, parking areas, and accessibility for a wide range of vessels. CPRA carefully managed construction to guarantee the launch remained open and accessible to the public throughout the process. Final adjustments were made to accommodate airboat operations and vehicle maneuvering better.
Widely used by anglers, boaters, and outdoor enthusiasts, the Bayou Pigeon Boat Launch serves as a key gateway into the Atchafalaya Basin. By investing in these improvements, CPRA and its partners are enhancing recreational access, strengthening the connection between coastal communities and Louisiana’s natural resources.
